MIM-KYIV FACULTY HELP ESTABLISH EXPORTERS” SCHOOL IN TAJIKISTAN
22 April 2021
MIM-Kyiv faculty delivered the second block of the Training for Trainers program for Tajinvest SE and Export Agency of Tajikistan.
Unlike large companies, Taj SMBs have limited resources to expand their export activities. Like their Ukrainian peers, they often lack the skills necessary for successful trade abroad. MIM-Kyiv’s Training for Trainers is aimed at building up capacities necessary for export. Oleksandr Sudarkin, MBA program director discussed the program: “The main outcome and homework for program participants are to establish a sustainable school for exporters. In the school, entrepreneurs will learn how to start and enhance their exporting activities. Such a school is very important because smaller companies are short of relevant knowledge and competencies. Having special programs on exports is a good solution for the situation. After our program, the participants will have a model curriculum, and syllabuses. The establishment of the sustainable school for exporters will be MIM’s program final project. The school’s curriculum will feature fundamentals of foreign trade, export marketing, export logistics, and legal framework for foreign trade. We hope that the Agency’s managers participating in our program will fill our model syllabuses with content relevant for their situation.”
Managers of the Tajinvest, the agency that promotes business activities in Tajikistan and helps investors navigate the local opportunities were studying entrepreneurship and project management. Those competencies are crucial for selecting the best domestic and foreign investments. Serhii Voronov, MIM-Kyiv’s professor of project management adapted his course to better suit the audience's needs and account for local ways of doing business. As a part of his course, the class was developing the selection criteria for the projects.
“Although it goes beyond the program, I am preparing the manual for doing business plans. On one hand, the country and its business culture are very similar to other post-Soviet countries. On the other hand, the local culture is much affected by its borderline position between East and West. Cultures shape the implementation of development programs. For us, it is quite an ambition. We are sharing our experience and learning from our hosts.”
