MIM-Kyiv joined forces with the Thunderbird School of Global Management to deliver the very special program for the State Concern Ukroboronprom, the manager of the Ukrainian defense industry companies. It kicked off on March 13. Cooperation of the Concern with the Embassy of the United States of America made this program possible. Due to the program Ukrainian defense industry will be able to apply international managerial approaches and run companies better.

Thunderbird’s experience in defense industry is of special importance for the program as it has been developing programs for the sector since its foundation. The programs range from short-term management development open programs to large tailor-made ones commissioned by defense industry’s leaders. Joint program of the Thunderbird and the MIM-Kyiv is of tailor-made category.
“Two years ago in our discussions with the American Embassy we paid special attention to the pending need in managerial education for defense industry managers,” said Mr. Roman Romanov, the Ukroboronprom CEO and MIM-Kyiv MBA 2014. “The program provider had been selected and the program content was developed within the subsequent two years. We are sure that the Thunderbird School’s experience will benefit our managers and thus facilitate the industry companies’ development,” said he.
The program is comprised of three modules, two of which are taught by the MIM-Kyiv’s faculty and one – by the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Students will master the most current analytical, managerial, leadership and strategic instruments. In particular, Dr. Mark Brown will teach the course in personal managerial skills. Mr. Patrick Tornare, the Client Relationship Director Europe of the Thunderbird School of Global Management mentioned that the School had applied its best developed approaches to the program’s design.
Prof. Iryna Tykhomyrova, MIM-Kyiv’s President said about program’s special importance for the School and for the country. “It is a brand new program for Ukraine,” said she. “We are proud of your company and want you to grow stronger. Therefore, we will take efforts to enhance your professional development. We hope that the program will be instrumental in exporting armaments and what is most important in defending our country.”
