Optimizing success: high achievers and high-performing teams

Dr. Ruth Gotian and Dr. Charles Camarda

Dr. Ruth Gotian is the Chief Learning Officer and Assistant Professor of Education in Anesthesiology and former founding Assistant Dean of Mentoring and Executive Director of the Mentoring Academy at Weill Cornell Medicine. She has been hailed by the journal Nature and Columbia University as an expert in mentorship and leadership development and was recently recognized as one of the top 20 mentors in the world. In 2021, she was selected as one of 30 people worldwide to be named to the Thinkers50 Radar List, dubbed the Oscars of management thinking, and recently won the Thinkers50 Distinguished Achievement “Radar” Award ranking her the #1 emerging management thinker in the world to bridge theory and practice. She is also a semi-finalist for the Forbes 50 Over 50 list. In addition to publishing in academic journals, she is a contributor to Forbes and Psychology Today where she writes about ‘optimizing success’. Her research is about the mindset and skill set of peak performers, including Nobel laureates, astronauts, and Olympic champions, which she writes about in her book, The Success Factor. 

Dr. Charles Camarda is an experienced research engineer and thermal structures expert with over 45 years’ experience at NASA. As a researcher at NASA’s Langley Research Center (LaRC) he worked on numerous transdisciplinary teams to develop, analyze and test advanced thermal structural systems for hypersonic vehicles such as the Space Shuttle. He led the Thermal Structures Branch at NASA LaRC and the Structures and Materials Technical Maturation for the National Aerospace Plane (NASP), one of the most complex airbreathing hypersonic vehicles. He also led the structures team of the experimental single-stage-to-orbit vehicle (SSTO) which led to the X-33 Program and experimental vehicle development. He was selected as an Astronaut Candidate in 1996 and flew as a Mission Specialist on STS-114, NASA’s Return-to-Flight (RTF) mission immediately following the Columbia disaster. He was responsible for initiating several teams to successfully diagnose the cause of the Columbia tragedy and, in addition, develop an on-orbit repair technically technique which was flown on his RTF mission and all successive Shuttle missions until its retirement in 2011.

Dr. Mark Esposito is recognized internationally as a top global thought leader in matters relating to The Fourth Industrial Revolution, the changes and opportunities that technology will bring to a variety of industries. He is Co-Founder & Chief Learning Officer at Nexus FrontierTech, an AI scale-up venture and Co-Founder and Chairman of the Strategic Foresight Board for the Circular Economy Alliance, an EdTech venture. He was inducted in 2016 in the radar of Thinkers50 as one of the 30 most prominent rising business thinkers in the world. He is a global expert of the World Economic Forum, an advisor to national governments and a Distinguished Fellow in the UNESCO Chair in Future Literacy of Finance. He is currently advisor for the Prime Minister Office in the UAE. He serves as Senior Advisor to the Ideation Center of Strategy& at PwC since April 2022. 
He is Professor of Business and Economics at Hult International Business School and at Harvard University’s Division of Continuing Education. At Harvard, he served as Institutes Council Co-Leader, at the Microeconomics of Competitiveness program (MOC) at the Institute of Strategy and Competitiveness, at Harvard Business School under the mentorship of Professor Michael E. Porter. He has authored/co-authored over 150 publications peer and non-peer reviewed, 12 books, among which 2 Amazon bestsellers: Understanding how the Future Unfolds (2017) and The AI Republic (2019). His latest book is: “The Emerging Economies under the Dome of the Fourth Industrial Revolution” with Dr. Amit Kapoor (August 2022) for Cambridge University Press and his next one is “The Great Remobilization: Designing A Smarter World” with Dr. Olaf Groth and Dr. Terence Tse, (February 2023) for MIT University Press. 
He holds a Doctoral Degree in Business and Economics from Ecole des Ponts Paris Tech, one of France’s most prestigious Grande Ecole.

Megan is Professor of Leadership and Dialogue at Hult International Business School where she speaks, researches, consults and supervises on the intersection of leadership, change, dialogue and mindfulness.
