MIM Recommended Book Is Announced the Best Book 2018

09 February 2019

Adam Alter‘s Irresistible: The Rise of Addictive Technology Ukrainian translation released by the BookChef publishing house within the “MIM Recommends” series was announced the Book of the Year (Business, Economy, Success nomination).

“Alter brilliantly illuminates the new obsessions that are controlling our lives and offers the tools we need to rescue our businesses, our families, and our sanity.” —Adam Grant, New York Times bestselling author of Originals and Give and Take wrote about the book.

Those obsessions are well familiar to most tech moguls and software designers. It is much spoken about Steve Jobs ban on iPads for his children. Evan Williams, the founder of Blogger, Twitter, and Medium is said to follow the suit. Tech tycoons seem to follow drug lords approach “Never Get High on Your Own Supply”.

Adam Alter who is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Psychology at New York University's Stern School of Business, and the author of Drunk Tank Pink, a New York Times bestseller about the forces that shape how we think, feel, and behave has a first-hand knowledge of obsessions or rather addictions. As a gamer, an occupation he had assumed to do the research he was at certain point distracted from writing his Irresistible: The Rise of Addictive Technology bestseller. No matter what the book was published. In 2017 the BookChef released the Ukrainian translation of it as a part of the “MIM Recommends” joint project.

“8 books, all of them much discussed by business community have already been released in a year and a half. New releases of 2019 are coming,” Dr. Vadym Saveliev, MIM’s professor of marketing said after the award. “We are happy to greet our partners. It is high time to leave your technology and read the book about out digitalized lives,” Prof. Iryna Tykhomyrova, MIM’s president said.
