MIM-Kyiv Joined Academic Integrity Initiative
08 April 2019
In 2019 MIM joined Strike Plagiarism system and included anti-plagiarism check into the school’s academic policies.
Plagiarism is a serious offence in Europe and the US. It usually results in fines, firing, degrees deprivation, and sometimes even imprisonment. Quite the opposite is in Ukraine. According to the Studway portal, 90% of academic authors are guilty of plagiarism.
Since 2019 MIM joined the Strike Plagiarism system and included anti-plagiarism check into the school’s academic policies. “Several masters dissertations were remade completely but the vast majority of dissertations passed the test. We believe that due to the systemic approach to business which our students develop during their studies they are able to do their dissertations without “improper borrowings”. Moreover, in most cases dissertations are real-life business cases,” Dr. Olena Kyrianova, the Head of the Information and Resource Center said.
All students’ works are part of MIM’s internal database accessible to all MIM students. “Public sentiment is that all graduates of private educational institutions are awarded degrees regardless of their academic merits. Our client orientation is about offering knowledge and skills rather than mere diplomas. Therefore, the vast majority of our students’ dissertations were originals,” Olena comments.
