REINFORCEUA: 2022 SEASON IS OVER TO START IN EARLY JANUARY
22 December 2022
On December 14 the first season of ReInforceUA, MIM-Kyiv’s international educational project aimed at intellectual support of Ukrainians and strengthening the Ukrainian wartime and post-war economy finished. December lectures were about service design, future-oriented thinking, and strategic digital autonomy development.
Nick Coutts, a Visiting Tutor in Service Design at the Royal College of Art spoke about entering new markets and identifying the right target audience. He mentioned that most companies were focusing on designing new services or products rather than the way to the market. In his opinion, segmentation is a working tool to assess the value of products and services. Comparison of potential and real-life sales helps to understand the maximum value of each product.
Dori Clark, recognized as a “branding expert” by the Associated Press, Fortune, and Inc. magazine consults and speaks for a diverse range of clients, including Google, the World Bank, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, and the Ford Foundation. She teaches at Yale University,
Harvard Business School, etc. In her lecture “How to Be a Long-Term Thinker in a Short-Term World” she underscored the importance of the making the right choices and prioritizing. She also shared her approach to the development of long-term thinking. Dori Clark paid special attention to understanding personal goals and what it takes to reach them.
Paul Timmers from the University of Oxford delivered the lecture “Building Digital Strategic Autonomy” and stressed the need to share the problem globally to solve it successfully. He gave an example of the EU domain that manifests the ownership even through its name. He also discussed the need to protect data because our critical structures are not protected properly. He believes strategic partnerships to be the best solution. For example, EU and the USA have forged strategic partnerships in digital technologies and chip sourcing. Creating shared cyberspace is yet another challenge with its balancing governments’ supervision and freedom. In Prof. Timmers’s opinion, private businesses cannot neglect environmental or geopolitical issues. And adjust their business models to accommodate partnerships with governments.
